Fox Senior High

Summary:

Fox Senior High is a public high school located in Arnold, Missouri, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 1,742 students. The school is part of the Fox C-6 School District, which is ranked 52 out of 376 districts in Missouri and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Fox Senior High is part of the higher-performing Fox C-6 district, it lags behind some of the nearby schools, such as Lindbergh Senior High and Bayless Senior High, in terms of test scores and overall academic performance. The school has a significantly higher percentage of white students (83.41%) compared to the surrounding schools, which tend to have more diverse student populations. Additionally, Fox Senior High's test scores, particularly in Algebra I and Algebra II, are lower than the district and state averages, with only 23.3% of students proficient or better in Algebra I, compared to 45.3% for the Fox C-6 district and 41.5% for the state.

The higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch at Fox Senior High (27.84%) compared to nearby schools like Lindbergh Senior High (12.04%) and Seckman Senior High (17.51%) may contribute to the school's lower academic performance, as research has shown a correlation between socioeconomic status and educational outcomes. The school's declining statewide ranking and subgroup performance disparities suggest the need for targeted interventions and support to improve educational outcomes for all students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Fox is a great school, but unfortunately, has an aging building. The new (5-6 years) administration had done a great job increasing transparency within the district, raising test scores, and creating a great learning environment. In my sons 2019 graduating class, there were more than 30 bright flight scholars!! Great work is being done here! An updated school would make it even better! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
