Springwoods Village Middle has a diverse student population, with a higher percentage of African American (41.1%) and Hispanic (41.29%) students compared to the state average. However, the school's academic performance on the STAAR tests is generally below the state average, with only 61.05% of 6th-grade students proficient or better in STAAR Reading, compared to 54.45% statewide. The school's performance also varies significantly across different student subgroups, with relatively strong performance for Asian and African American students, but struggling with English Language Learners and At-Risk students. Additionally, the school has seen an increase in its dropout rate, rising from 0.3% in 2019-2020 to 1.5% in 2021-2022.

When compared to other nearby middle schools, such as Wilkerson Intermediate in the Conroe Independent School District, Springwoods Village Middle generally performs below the average. This may be due to the school's high percentage of students (over 70%) eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, indicating a relatively low socioeconomic status of the student population. However, the school has seen a decrease in its student-to-teacher ratio, from 18.2 in 2020-2021 to 14.5 in 2022-2023, suggesting an increase in staffing resources that could potentially lead to improved student outcomes if effectively utilized.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Wow, this school is amazing so far. We came to the "meet the teacher" event on August 13th, 2019. This is the first year they have opened, so it was understandably unorganized, and a bit understaffed for the crowds, but they certainly did their best. The facility is spacious, brand new, state-of-the-art, and a great location. Teachers were helpful when asked questions and friendly too. I have high hopes for my son's education here and look forward to this school year! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
