Summary:

Old Richmond Elementary is a public elementary school in Tobaccoville, North Carolina, serving 405 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools district, which is ranked 164 out of 242 districts in the state.

Old Richmond Elementary consistently outperforms the district and state averages in standardized test scores, with 84.9% of 3rd-graders proficient in Mathematics compared to 60% for the district and 62.7% for the state. Compared to other schools in the district, Old Richmond Elementary generally outperforms in academic achievement and statewide rankings. However, some schools outside the district, such as East Bend Elementary and Poplar Springs Elementary School, have also demonstrated strong academic performance and may be worth further investigation. The school's diverse student population and increasing economic challenges provide an interesting context for further analysis and potential areas for improvement.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have never seen a Principal more concerned with money or his ratings over a child's happiness and well being than the current one. Also, I have never met teachers that pick certain students to bully and single out like I have here. Disappointed. Close Quote

Open Quote All three of my children went to Old Richmond and I loved the teachers there, they were helpful and understanding of situations when they aroused. I was a classroom mom and helped in the classroom on different days so I was able to follow what was happening in the school. We went through some hard times when my husband was in collage and could not afford Christmas for our children, the Teachers there surprised us by bringing Christmas to our home! Our children had Christmas dinner and gifts to open, I cried and will always be grateful for their kindness!

Two of my Grandchildren are attending Old Richmond now and I couldn't be happier! One of m Grandchildren went to another school that was close but did not do well there. Since he transfered and started at Old Richmond, he has been doing so much better with his learning/school work. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
