Bellerive Elementary

Summary:

Bellerive Elementary is a public elementary school located in Creve Coeur, Missouri, serving grades K-5 with a total enrollment of 407 students. It is part of the Parkway C-2 School District, which is ranked 32nd out of 386 districts in Missouri and has a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, Bellerive Elementary has consistently ranked in the top 30-35% of Missouri elementary schools, outperforming the state average but lagging behind the Parkway C-2 district average in mathematics and English language arts. However, the school struggles with its special education and low socioeconomic status (SES) student subgroups, ranking in the bottom 50-60% of Missouri elementary schools for these subgroups. Additionally, Bellerive has experienced relatively high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 12.5% to 17.1% over the past few years, which is higher than the state average.

Despite its relatively high per-student spending and low student-teacher ratio, Bellerive Elementary's academic performance lags behind some of the higher-performing schools in the Parkway C-2 district, such as Shenandoah Valley Elementary, McKelvey Intermediate, and Mason Ridge Elementary. This suggests that the school may need to focus on improving the quality and effectiveness of its instructional practices and support systems, particularly for its more vulnerable student subgroups, to elevate its overall academic performance.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Appreciate the Suzuki Violin lessons available beginning at 3rd grade. Well balanced and established school. Full-day Kindergarten is free in this district, 9:05AM-4PM. Kindergarten students bring their own headphones and work with computers. 3rd grade students may sit on exercise balls to work their 'wiggles' in lieu of traditional chairs. Many classrooms are split by 'pods', which seem to enable children to study and negotiate with others in a busy environment with purposeful, scheduled distractions. Close Quote

Open Quote We love this school! The teachers and staff are readily accessible and they do value parent input. The PTO is also very active and does a good amount of fundraising throughout the year to purchase additional items for the school. They raised money to install smart boards in all of the classrooms; Bellerive was the first school in the district to have them. I love that this school also practices inclusion, with students of varying abilites in each classroom. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
