William Lipscomb Elementary

Summary:

William Lipscomb Elementary is a public elementary school in Dallas, Texas, serving 434 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Dallas Independent School District, which is ranked 557 out of 968 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

William Lipscomb Elementary has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Texas elementary schools, with academic performance generally below the district and state averages on STAAR tests. The school's student population is predominantly Hispanic (67.74%), with a high percentage of economically disadvantaged students (70.51%) eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. This is in contrast to nearby high-performing schools like Lakewood Elementary, which has only 6.57% of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch. Despite the relatively high spending per student at William Lipscomb Elementary, the school's academic outcomes suggest challenges in effectively allocating and utilizing its resources.

The analysis of William Lipscomb Elementary reveals significant racial and socio-economic disparities within the school, with White and Special Education students outperforming African American, Hispanic, English Language Learner, and Low Socio-Economic Status students. This suggests that the school may need to focus on addressing the unique needs and challenges faced by its more disadvantaged student populations to improve overall academic outcomes. By learning from the practices and strategies employed by nearby high-performing schools, such as Solar Preparatory School For Girls At Bonham, William Lipscomb Elementary may be able to identify opportunities for improvement and better support the learning and achievement of all its students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We chose Lipscomb in 2008 for our then kinder student after much research. We now have two boys therre, loving learning and testing in the 95+ percentile on standardized tests. Lispcomb has great teachers and is getting more parent support every year. Close Quote

Open Quote this school used to be all about the community and neighbourhood and WANTED parental involvement. but as of this year it is just the exact OPPOSITE! staff members run parents and family out of the school and away from the campus and even went as far as to lock the gates around the entire school causing a fire hazard if there were to be an emergency. also the drop off and pick up procedures are deplorable. I have 2 sons at lipscomb one is in kinder and one is in 3rd grade and it is disgusting the way they FORCE us to line up to drop off and pick up our kids. i am transferring BOTH my sons as soon as the new principal signs off on the form. i DO NOT recommend this school to any one. the pta is also disgusting! About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
