Solanco High School has shown mixed academic performance compared to the state and nearby schools. The school has maintained a relatively high four-year graduation rate, ranging from 82.2% to 87.5%, and a low dropout rate of 1.5% to 2.5%. However, the school's performance varies across different student subgroups, with Hispanic students and disabled students performing better than the state average in some Keystone Exam subjects, while White students and low socioeconomic status students have generally underperformed compared to the state.

Solanco High School's performance is generally on par with or slightly below the nearby schools, such as Penn Manor High School and Conestoga Valley Senior High School, which have higher academic proficiency rates and higher overall rankings from SchoolDigger. The school's statewide ranking has declined over the past few years, from a high of 243 out of 580 Pennsylvania high schools in 2013-2014 to a current ranking of 419 out of 686 high schools, indicating the need for the school to identify and address the factors contributing to this decline in relative performance.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As a parent who has had multiple children go through the school district, I can say that I have been thoroughly pleased about my children and their education. The teachers are attentive and challenging. The opportunities for school involvement are abundant. Opportunities not just in sports but academically and artistically directed also. The child's desire to succeed and a good parent teacher relationship is what this school encourages and what will determine all schools true success value. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
