As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote All Honors Gifted and Talented School. The curriculum is heavy on group discussions and in class projects. It is very light on homework, with emphasis on giving the individual student, time to study what they need to without the busy work. There is plenty of extra help at lunch, or other regular teacher hours posted. It is possible to enroll for grade 6. My son has enjoyed his time there. He especially likes the personalized attention. It's a small school, but it has plenty of electives and activities. There's even a great after school program, through Global Kids. Close Quote

Open Quote Our experience with our daughter who was in K last year was exceptional! Her teacher was above and beyond accessible, engaged/engaging, and highly trained! We couldn't have imagined our daughter's progress, especially in reading. The reading curriculum is comprehensive at the 30th Avenue School. Above all, the philosophy of the school of teaching the whole child was evident. Close Quote

Open Quote We have a first grader who has been at Q300 for two years and our experience has been extremely positive thus far. What I value most about the school is that the academics are rigorous but the approach is creative and individualized--instead of learning by rote or doing worksheets and drills, the kids are given open-ended and imaginative assignments, with lots of team and project-based work. There's also a serious emphasis on social emotional development and we have noticed a real difference in our daughter's confidence and problem-solving skills. Her teacher sends thorough emails at least weekly describing what the kids are learning and we have many opportunities to visit the classroom and get more involved. The PTA also does a lot to build community (always a challenge for a citywide school) and raises money for TAs and enrichments like music and architecture. All in all, we've been very pleased. Open Quote Q300 has been a great school for my child in K. The K teacher we have this year is very committed and responsive to parents' concerns. The school is diverse racially and socioeconomically. Good balance between academics and socioemotional well being. Parental involvement at class workshops/events and in the PTA is high. Enrichments for K include mindfulness residency, music, visual arts, Spanish, and computer technology. Principal Bill is a strong, committed leader who will further improve and strengthen the school. Open Quote The 30th Avenue school has been amazing thus far. It will be a full K-8 program in 2 years. The principal and teachers are wonderful, welcoming, and always willing to listen and help our children with any concerns we may have. They are prompt with responding to emails as well. The PTA has very strong involvement and we are grateful for their hard work to ensure our kids have amazing special classes, such as mindfulness, art, music, and dance. The kindergarten classes each have a teaching assistant as well, which is provided via PTA funds. The kids get to know each other across the grades and overall the school feels like a family. It's a gem and we feel so lucky to be a part of it. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
