Corrales International

Summary:

Corrales International is an alternative public charter school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, serving 241 students in grades K-12. The school stands out for its strong academic performance, diverse student population, and smaller class sizes compared to nearby schools.

Corrales International consistently outperforms the state average in proficiency rates for Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. In 2021-2022, the school had higher proficiency rates than the Albuquerque Public Schools district and the state average in Language Arts for 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades. The school's 6th-grade Mathematics proficiency rate was significantly higher at 68.8%, compared to 31.9% for Albuquerque Public Schools and 32.5% for the state. Corrales International's diverse student population, with a higher percentage of Hispanic and Native American students compared to nearby schools, may contribute to the unique learning opportunities and cultural experiences for the students.

Another key differentiator for Corrales International is its lower percentage of free and reduced lunch recipients (31.12%) compared to the nearby alternative schools, which range from 72.73% to 100%. This suggests the school serves a more economically diverse student population. Additionally, Corrales International has a relatively low student-teacher ratio of 12.8, which is lower than the nearby alternative schools, ranging from 4.8 to 24.5. This smaller class size likely allows for more personalized attention and support for each student, contributing to the school's academic success.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I like my school, but we need to expand. Our lunch room is also our gym room and our auditorium. I do feel chalanged here and I love my teachers. We have fun in class, and do lots of hands on projects. 5th and 4th graders have Spanish book reports every two weeks. At the end of each unit I find a lot of my classmates and I have lots to do. 5th graders are required to write an essay and make a presentation for the rest of the class. 4th grades just the essay. 5th and 4th also do robotics somrtimes.
We really only have one set of play equipment for kinder and first and rhe ilder kids have to stay over on the blacktop. We don't have a soccer field ether, and a lot of balls go over the fence. I have never experienced bullying at my school, but there is one guy in my class who know one likes. The most disagreement my class has is is soccer. Who gets the pit, (our soccer field) and some things like if it was an out or not. We do however need to work on not talking so much. I think because some of the older classes have been together longer they tend to talk more. We all know each other two well.
Overall, good education, the school needs to expand and some of the classes need to work on their behavior. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
