While the school has seen an increase in chronic absenteeism, reaching 13.2% in 2021-2022, this rate is still lower than the state average and many of the nearby schools, such as Glen Rock High School, Pascack Valley High School, and Ridgewood High School.

Westwood Regional High School's strong performance extends across various student subgroups, including Female, Male, Asian, African American, Hispanic, White, Special Education, and Low Socio-Economic Status students. The school's racial diversity is also noteworthy, with a more diverse student population compared to some of the nearby schools, such as Glen Rock High School and Pascack Valley High School. However, the nearby Bergen County Technical High School - Paramus, a specialized school with a focus on technical and vocational education, stands out with its significantly lower student-teacher ratio and higher spending per student compared to Westwood Regional High School.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Excellent caring teaching and staff. Dedicated and school spirited students who make an effort to be the best they can, combined with parents who are hands on and care about the future of our children. I moved here ten years ago and I'm so happy I did. Close Quote

Open Quote I rated this school Poor because we fell in school rankings state wide by 40%. Why ? I also rated us poorly because the sorrounding school districts are above average. We should have one school district with one superintendent for the entire Pascack Valley. Mr. Zoeller is failing at his job and needs to be replaced along with the academics in our school district. We don't need our kids taught social issues, we as parents can do that. Concentrate on important issue such as Reading, Writing, Arithmatic, Science, Geography and American history. Our kids are failing because they use them as Guinea pigs for NEW curriculim. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
