Lebanon Borough School

Summary:

Lebanon Borough School is a small public elementary school serving grades PK-6 in Lebanon, New Jersey, with just 94 students. Despite its size, the school consistently outperforms the state average in academic proficiency, ranking in the top 25-30% of New Jersey elementary schools.

The school's students excel in both English Language Arts and Mathematics, with 3rd grade ELA proficiency at 71.4% compared to the state average of 43.6%, and 6th grade ELA and Math proficiency rates of 62.5% and 43.8% respectively, well above the state averages of 53.2% and 36.2%. This strong academic performance extends to the school's White student subgroup, which also outperforms the state average for that subgroup. Additionally, Lebanon Borough School maintains low chronic absenteeism rates, suggesting high student engagement.

Compared to nearby elementary schools, such as Tewksbury Elementary, Francis A. Desmares Elementary, and Califon Public School, Lebanon Borough School stands out for its consistently high academic performance, which may be attributed to factors such as its small size, low student-teacher ratio, and the relative affluence of its student population within the Lebanon Borough School District.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I attended this school from kindergarten through sixth grade, had several intern teaching positions, substitute taught, and even interviewed to become a teacher at this school. I absolutely love everyone at this school and feel like the smallness of it makes it feel like a family. My dream would be to one day become a teacher in this school, but we will see what the future has in store for me. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
