Round Valley

Summary:

Round Valley is an elementary school located in Lebanon, New Jersey, serving grades 3-5 with a total enrollment of 366 students. The school is part of the Clinton Township School District, which is ranked 140 out of 615 districts in New Jersey and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Round Valley has a relatively diverse student population, with 70.77% White, 12.02% Hispanic, and 9.02% Asian students. This diversity is higher compared to some nearby schools, such as Patrick McGaheran (76.53% White) and Union Township Elementary School (79.61% White). Academically, Round Valley has shown strong performance, particularly in 5th grade English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, where proficiency rates exceed the state averages. The school also consistently ranks highly in the state for its performance with special education students.

While Round Valley's academic achievements are impressive, there are a few areas of concern. The school's racial diversity has been declining in recent years, and its statewide ranking has fluctuated, suggesting factors beyond just academic performance may be at play. Additionally, Round Valley has seen a significant increase in chronic absenteeism, from 1.3% in 2020-2021 to 7.4% in 2021-2022, which is an area the school and district should address. Overall, Round Valley is a strong-performing elementary school, but the community should monitor the school's evolving demographics and attendance patterns to ensure continued success.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school and its teachers have been the best thing to happen to my children. The teachers and staff are caring and excellent at what they do. The principal is so enthusiastic about the success of the students and is very approachable to parents. You can tell she really enjoys her job. I'm going to miss this school and its personnel. My children have each had three memorable years here and have learned so much. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
