Anderson-Livsey Elementary School

Summary:

Anderson-Livsey Elementary School is a public elementary school serving 648 students in grades PK-5 in Snellville, Georgia, which is part of the Gwinnett County School District, the largest school district in Georgia.

While Anderson-Livsey Elementary has consistently lower proficiency rates on the Georgia Milestones Assessments compared to Gwinnett County and Georgia state averages, it also has a high percentage of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 74.79% to 79.63% over the past 3 years. This suggests the school serves a high-poverty student population. Additionally, Anderson-Livsey Elementary spends between $8,389 to $9,422 per student, which is lower than the spending levels of nearby Shiloh, Norton, and Centerville Elementary Schools.

When comparing Anderson-Livsey Elementary to other nearby schools in the Gwinnett County district, it consistently underperforms. For example, Partee Elementary, located just 1.29 miles away, has significantly higher proficiency rates across all subjects and grade levels, as well as a higher 4-star School Digger rating. To improve Anderson-Livsey Elementary's performance, the district may need to consider increasing per-student funding, reducing class sizes, and implementing targeted interventions to address the specific learning needs of the school's high-poverty student population.

Open Quote This school is something else the principal and vice principal think they are being strick but I think its unnecessary how they punish the kids every thing no matter how simple they suspend kids and give referrals kids cant be kids it's like they want kids to be perfect come on ... my son is talkative and was given a referral for talking in class kmt really he did not fight or hurt anyone they are too serious when it's not that necessary and the teachers seems bored and behind I wish I had options this school is a pain . Open Quote This school is a disappointment to the community. It’s a 5 year old school and the state score is 66%, the city/county rank is 74/77 and the county has gotten involved for improvement. I am truly disappointed that it has gotten to this level. What will it take for Gwinnett County Public School to change the Leadership in this school? It is not fair for the children, parents and staff at this school to continue with a failing school. Can we get a veteran principal that can get this school back in the green? Call the county ask about there weekly visits. Its time for a change we are waiting on you GCPS.

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
