Open Quote Do not send your child here. They do not encourage individuality and operate on a zero tolerance policy. Meaning any mistakes your child makes no matter how small will be treated as severe infractions. Your child will be criminalized and ostracized for being a child and if you advocate for your child you will be targeted too. When teachers encounter children they don't want to be bothered with or find difficult teach they bully them by continuously writing them up and suspending them for trivial occurrences to obtain documentation to validate expulsion. Because that's the easiest way to get rid of children that may jeopardize their standardized testing scores due to learning difficulties. Close Quote

Open Quote This school does not meet my expectations at all!!

The teacher-parent communication is poor, my children were honor students. Upon attending Annistown, their grades dropped dramatically, and I have yet to see any signs of the teachers giving them the help the very well may need. This school's main focus seems to be pressuring the students to do well on the CRCT exams... it seems thats all they seem to be concerned with. My children have been experiencing problems since enrolling at Annistown Elementary.

The first day of school, keep in mind this new school for my children, my son was left at school because he was totally unaware of how Annistown's dismissal proccess worked. His teacher failed to explain the dismissal proccess to him. He was left standing outside alone for a nearly 2 hours(1.5 hours to be exact), before anyone noticed him. My other children called and notified me that their brother did not come home on the bus.. NOT THE SCHOOL, and when I called the school to ask about this, it was THEN THAT THEY ACTUALLY WENT AND FOUND HIM!!! The staff has continuously showed me how careless they are. My children will NOT be attending this school next year!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
