For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, 65.2% of 3rd graders, 45.5% of 4th graders, and 60.8% of 5th graders at Hembree Springs Elementary School were proficient or better in ELA, compared to 50.3%, 51.5%, and 59.6% in Fulton County, and 38.4%, 37%, and 48.2% statewide. While Hembree Springs Elementary School performs well compared to other nearby elementary schools in the Fulton County district, such as Alpharetta Elementary and Northwood Elementary, the nearby Mimosa Elementary has significantly lower academic performance. This highlights the potential impact of socioeconomic factors, as Mimosa Elementary has a much higher percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients compared to Hembree Springs. Overall, Hembree Springs Elementary School is a high-performing school that consistently outperforms its district and state counterparts, but there may still be opportunities for continued improvement, particularly in 4th and 5th-grade Mathematics.

Open Quote This is the second year my son attends this school, and I am very proud with the involvement and dedication of the teachers and parents, and leadership of the principal. My son is being well challenged. The small groups in class help each kids learn at their own rhythm, so they get the attention they need, and those who needs more challenges are being provided with them. The teachers go beyond to make sure all the students are benefiting to the max, each at their own level and stance. It is a great school environment to be in! Close Quote

Open Quote I was devistated when it was reccomended that I pull my child out of preschool and place him in special needs preK at HSE. What a blessing it turned out to be. The priniciple's background is in special needs and she clearly has a place in heart for these children. He is now in the 4th grade and what a long way he has come! He is now in advance classes. Each school year my neighbors all ask each other "who does your child have this year?" and the response is always " she's great" It's amzing how from day one Ms. Raju knows the parents and children by name. I wish I had her talent. Many parents with special need kids end up placing them in private school because they can't seem to get their child's needs met in public. Myself I can't imagine anyone doing a better job than Ms. Raju and her staff. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
