Open Quote Amana is a wonderful learning choice for all students. The smaller class sizes, epsecially in middle school are invaluable. The teachers are very engaging and highly trained. Students have the opportunity through Expeditionary Learning to fully delve into curriculum standards through hands on experiences that incorporate all subject areas. The school focuses also on making global citizens of their students who show compassion and leadership while trying to make the world a better place. Close Quote

Open Quote The ratings do not communicate the whole picture. Amana Academy middle school students are performing better than 99 of students across Georgia as evidenced by the Student Growth Performance metric. Most students transfer to our school in elementary grades and the data clearly shows Amana's program lifts their academic achievement over time at a faster rate than their peers at other schools through the middle school grades. We credit a collaboration between parents and faculty who implement the acclaimed Harvard-based EL Education program with a STEM theme that prepares students become 21st century change-makers! Open Quote This is my daughter's 2nd year at Amana and we are very happy with our choice to send her here. When I ask her how her day was she either says "great!" or gives me a bug thumbs up with a smile :) Close Quote

Open Quote The school is open and contains a friendly environment that is absolutely impossible to find in any "normal" public school. Although the education is claimed to be stupendous, its is more based on testing and more testing. Also, while some teachers are fantastic and provide lifelong learning experiences, the other few are lazy and often do not know how to efficiently teach or develop a teaching style. However, the school is very in touch with parents and promotes several activities. If more students were to come to this school and more parents volunteered, then Amana Academy would be able to provide a bright future for all children seeing it is diverse, in depth, and provides a simple outward approach to education in terms of their building, supplies, and materials. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
