Eagle Ridge Elementary School

Summary:

Eagle Ridge Elementary School is a public elementary school in Coral Springs, Florida, serving 839 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Broward County School District, which is ranked 30th out of 68 districts in Florida and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Eagle Ridge consistently performs above the Broward County and Florida state averages in standardized test scores, with 70-78% of students proficient or better in English Language Arts and Math, compared to 55-60% for Broward County and 53-55% for Florida. The school's diverse student population, with a racial makeup of 35% White, 17% African American, 33% Hispanic, and 9% Asian, is a key differentiating factor compared to nearby schools. However, Eagle Ridge has seen a significant increase in chronic absenteeism, from 3% in 2019-2020 to 15.8% in 2022-2023, which is an area of concern.

Despite having a higher per-student spending of $11,381 in 2022-2023 compared to nearby schools, which range from $9,014 to $15,459 per student, Eagle Ridge's academic performance suggests that the school is effectively utilizing its resources to support student learning. The school has maintained a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger for the past several years, ranking among the top 25% of Florida elementary schools, and its consistent high performance in English Language Arts and Math is a testament to the quality of education it provides.

Open Quote I rated this school as OK because it it OK for the average student. Where they fail is if your child has an IQ above 100. They do not support gifted children here and every opportunity is taken to dumb them down. If you children are average then this is the school for you. If your children need intellectual stimulation run don't walk. Close Quote

Open Quote My children transferred in to this school this past year. The second grade class was challenging and fun with lots of science projects. Teachers are very much involved in gaining grants for additional projects. PTA is very active and have wonderful family events. AfterCare program is ok; it was better at the previous school (private company run).Overall; the children are thrilled to be a part of this active and student focused campus. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
