As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The PK program has been excellent. My child has thrived and her teachers clearly care for her wellbeing, both academically and emotionally. Close Quote

Open Quote The culture and community at this school initially presents as positive and growing. The truth of matter is there is a lot of undercurrents of blame, negativity and compliance aimed at the teachers. Teachers are expected to manage students behaviors that have been tolerated for years. This creates an extremely stressful environment where many teachers don't feel that their voice is being heard, concerns taken seriously or given support and encouragement in improving the environment for students and teachers alike. There is a high turnover rate of teachers at this school. I don't think the principal has had any experience directly teaching in a classroom and therefore doesn't really understand how to effectively lead, support and encourage staff and students. Administration seems more concerned with how they look in reviews and on academic growth rather than understanding that the social, emotional and behavior goals must be addressed before student learning and growth can take place. Open Quote Students are harassed by other children and by teachers constantly. The principal does nothing about it. The school has zero communication unless it is for money then you will get calls texts and emails. My child was injured very badly at this school and I didn't even get a call. My child told me later on. The principal needs to be replaced she has no business there. This used to be a great school. Even parents don't want to be involved in the school because of the staff. Pretty sad. Close Quote

Open Quote Welchester's current principal has little to no effective communications skills. When things get out of hand, or when called on her lack of communication, she uses the district bureaucracy as a bludgeon.

What was once a great neighborhood school has become little more than a shadow of its former self. Close Quote

Open Quote Welchester is a horrible school. The principal needs to be replaced. He is rude and does NOT care about the students. If you want your child to succeed then don't send them to this school. I would give this school negative stars if I could. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
