As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I would give it zero star if I can. This is the last place you can send your child to. Let's just get it straight. If your child is from a native Spanish or French family, they will have a chance to be fluent in this two languages, but if you wish or the principal tells you they will be fluent in Chinese, you better forget about it. Teachers are very concerned on our students, some of them might not even graduate from high school, what's the point to know a second language. This school only cares about money, they won't tell you if it doesn't fit the child. They will see them struggle and keep them in the school still. The principals accept student failure as long as the teacher is teaching in the target language. Basically if you can not provide a super high level after school support, your child will be behind very soon. There is no support what so ever from the principals, super high teachers turn over rate cause no one believes it is working. Chinese teachers will not even care about your child if they are behind, they just want the job. I have been working here over 2 years, there are just too much you don't know about the school and you don't even want to know. Sad place. Zero teachers like it there. Close Quote

Open Quote I wish someone had explained these things to me when I was school shopping:
The TCAP scores are not a good gauge for assessing the intelligence of these students and the efficacy of the curriculum because a significant number of the students speak one language at home, another in class, and English only in GVA literacy and during those state standardized tests! So what I learned is that each class has several of these multi-lingual learners, so the reporting process is off. Also, I didn't understand the after school classes: They are truly valuable. Highly skilled professionals come in and teach intense specialized classes after school. (good luck with your search) Close Quote

Open Quote My child has been going to this school since kindergarten. My child has had great teachers the first three years (K- 3rd). We are very, very happy with my child's Chinese but would like to see some more emphasis on math and science. Even if it required after school hours. I rate K-2nd grade as 4 stars and Mr Kao himself 5 stars.
I would love to see more help for the overworked teachers. But unfortunately budget cuts have layed off some key teachers (Mr. Gillet-music) and other staff. I wish GVA could have perfected this school before spending time and resources on another branch in Northglenn. The price for afterschool activities has risen this year. Pick up, drop off and parking Is not convenient. Parental volunteer hours should be mandatory.

My child is now in the forth year and the Chinese teacher is ok but not great, like the previous teachers. I'm starting to have second thoughts about this school. I feel like my child is being held back in order for some of the rest of the class to catch up. I will meet with the principle soon to see If we can work out some of these issues. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
