Olivia Park Elementary

Summary:

Olivia Park Elementary is a public elementary school in Everett, Washington, serving students from kindergarten to 5th grade as part of the Mukilteo School District. With a diverse student population and a high percentage of students from low-income backgrounds, Olivia Park faces significant challenges in improving academic outcomes for its students.

Despite having a relatively high per-student spending and a low student-to-teacher ratio, Olivia Park Elementary consistently ranks in the bottom quarter of Washington elementary schools on state assessments. In the 2023-2024 school year, only 39.93% of Olivia Park students were proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to 50.39% in the Mukilteo School District and 52.63% statewide. In math, only 32.98% of Olivia Park students were proficient or better, compared to 39.67% in the district and 41.68% statewide. This persistent academic underperformance suggests a need for targeted interventions and support to address the underlying factors contributing to the school's challenges.

Further analysis of Olivia Park's student group performance reveals significant variations, with Asian and African American students performing relatively better than their peers, while White, Hispanic, and special education students perform significantly worse. This uneven performance across different subgroups highlights the need for a more nuanced and targeted approach to addressing the unique needs of each student population. As the Mukilteo School District and the school leadership work to improve academic outcomes at Olivia Park Elementary, they will need to carefully examine how resources are being allocated and utilized to ensure that all students have the support they need to succeed.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I Love the teachers and staff here! I would give 5 stars but...
They seriously need to do something about parent pick up! The lines are crazy long, some of the classes wander out 10 minutes after they are supposed to forcing everyone to wait longer, it already takes a good 20 minutes to pick up our children, one of the biggest problems is people making illegal left turns out of the parking lot when the sign clearly says NOT to, I have almost been hit several times because people refuse to obey the rules! Maybe an officer needs to sit there for a while or something Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
