Brookhollow Elementary

Summary:

Brookhollow Elementary is a public elementary school in Pflugerville, Texas, serving 389 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Pflugerville Independent School District, which is ranked 473 out of 968 districts in the state and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Brookhollow Elementary has a diverse student population, with 29.31% White, 15.17% African American, 42.67% Hispanic, 6.43% Asian, and 6.17% two or more races. However, the school's academic performance, as measured by STAAR test scores, is generally lower than the district and state averages, particularly for African American, Hispanic, and English Language Learner students. In contrast, the school's Gifted and Talented program appears to be a strength, with the school ranking in the top 10% of Texas elementary schools for this student group.

When compared to other nearby elementary schools in the Pflugerville Independent School District, such as Highland Park Elementary and Murchison Elementary, Brookhollow Elementary generally performs worse on academic measures, with lower proficiency rates and statewide rankings. This may be due in part to the school's relatively high percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, which research has shown can impact educational outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Brookhollow has exceeded our expectations. The teachers have all been both kind and passionate about teaching. Our kids are excelling here. The GT program is outstanding. The PTA plans so many fun events and the kids really seem to enjoy this school. The pickup line moves quickly, as this is a small school. Overall, we are very happy with Brookhollow. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
