Corbell Elementary

Summary:

Corbell Elementary is a public elementary school in Frisco, Texas, serving students from kindergarten to 5th grade. With a diverse student population, the school has seen a shift in its racial makeup in recent years, with a higher percentage of African American and Hispanic students compared to nearby schools in the Frisco Independent School District.

Academically, Corbell Elementary's performance on STAAR tests is generally lower than the district and state averages, particularly for Hispanic, African American, and low socioeconomic status students. However, the school's gifted and talented program and special education services are standouts, ranking in the top 5% and top 15% of Texas elementary schools, respectively. Nearby schools like Pink Elementary, Nichols Elementary, and Newman Elementary consistently outperform Corbell on STAAR tests and have higher overall state rankings.

Corbell Elementary faces challenges in addressing achievement gaps, particularly for its African American and Hispanic students. By learning from the successes of its higher-performing peers within the Frisco ISD and implementing targeted interventions, the school can work to provide a high-quality education for all of its students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Our daughter has done kinder and now going through first grade (2009). SHE LOVES IT!!! The teachers are heavily involved and promote family involvement (in some eyes maybe to much). But I rather have more than not enough. We will be moving soon and she is heart broken as we are. She is right on pace for learning and gets proper feedback. The aftercare program is affordable and run by teachers, they do a great job as well. Our daughter requests that we pick her up as late as possible. If I had a critique it would be that the teachers may be a little strict with kids being kids, however, traditional schools all do this in my opinion. Corbell is GREAT and any kid would be lucky to go to this public school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
