Leadership Prep School

Summary:

Leadership Prep School is a public charter elementary school in Frisco, Texas, serving around 500 students from kindergarten to 4th grade. This high-performing school stands out for its exceptional academic achievement, diverse student population, and consistent statewide recognition.

Leadership Prep School's exceptional performance has earned it a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger and a statewide ranking in the top 10% of Texas elementary schools. The school's success is particularly notable among certain student subgroups, such as African American and Special Education students, who consistently rank in the top 10% and 5%, respectively, of their peers in Texas. As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Education is the focus here. I have two kids in the School 2nd and 4th. They have learned to program, and feel highly involved. It has a lot less of the drama that seems to be in the Public Schools. The older grades 6th up seem to get transients, or trouble makers from other schools, but that seems to be changing more and more every year, as the LPS kids are filling in the upper classes from within their ranks. The school ranks really well in academics. I hope to see them expand into some sports, band if they can pull it off. Close Quote

Open Quote Would give zero stars if there as an option to do so. Claimed to understand Asperger's and that they have several children walking the halls who do well here. BIG FAT LIE. The WORST school EVER. Discriminated against my son due to his disability. The principal of the upper school has no tolerance for any child that has any kind of disability - especially if you are high functioning autistic. Interesting to note, the special education director has NO special education training and the principal has 9 years but could not intelligently speak on Asperger's or understand how the disorder can manifest. Run as far away from this school as you can. They suspend and expel any student that does not fit the mold of a neurotypical child but will take the state/federal funds that are to be used for special education services and not deliver any of them. This is a pattern and they are going to be exposed for mistreating special education students. Close Quote

Open Quote I am a parent of 2 children at Leadership Prep School in Frisco, Texas. My experience has not been bad but it has not been that good. The good thing about Leadership is it is close to home within walking distance.......I wish there was more diversity in leadership and more creativity when educating the children. My husband and I have been debating on withdrawing our children but we decided to give it a full year to see if our hearts and mind would change. Sad to say it has not. I don't want to put anything negative out there so I will just say my children will not be returning next year. Close Quote

Open Quote Leadership prep is great! Teachers are wonderful...most of them, and I love the principal!! She takes great care of the school and also the kids. She treats them like her own!! I also love the uniforms...saves time everyday instead of picking out what to wear each day. This way all kids are looking and wearing the same.

The only downside is that I wish school has cafeteria and proper gymnasium for the kids. Hopefully in near future its in plan!! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
