Borchardt Elementary

Summary:

Borchardt Elementary is a high-performing public elementary school in Plano, Texas, serving 684 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. Part of the Frisco Independent School District, which is ranked 30th out of 968 districts in Texas, Borchardt Elementary consistently ranks among the top elementary schools in the state.

Borchardt Elementary's academic performance is exceptional, with a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger and consistently high proficiency rates on STAAR tests, significantly outpacing the state and district averages. The school's strengths include strong performance among male students, Asian students, Hispanic students, English Language Learners, and Special Education students. While the school has a relatively low percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, its performance for this subgroup is not as strong as its overall performance.

Compared to nearby schools within the Frisco Independent School District and the Plano Independent School District, Borchardt Elementary stands out as a high-performing outlier. The school's exceptional academic achievement is not solely attributable to higher funding or lower class sizes, as its spending and student-teacher ratio are comparable to the nearby schools. Borchardt Elementary's Gifted and Talented program is also a strength, with the school ranking in the top 5% of Texas elementary schools for this subgroup.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Excellent school. Teachers are sincere and go above and beyond to help every child. A well rounded environment and excellent curriculum. The Principal Dr. Jodi Davis is an effective principal with clear vision and outstanding leadership qualities. She is an excellent listener and fair and consistent.
I had interaction with the school for almost 10 years since both my kids went there. With what I have seen with this school, I only have praises, appreciation and good words for Ruth Borchardt Elementary. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
