Bayles Elementary

Summary:

Bayles Elementary is a public elementary school in Dallas, Texas, serving 409 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Dallas Independent School District (ISD), which is ranked 557 out of 968 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Bayles Elementary consistently ranks in the bottom quartile of Texas elementary schools, with significantly below-average performance on STAAR tests across all grade levels and subject areas. The school struggles to support the academic achievement of various student subgroups, particularly African American, Hispanic, and Gifted and Talented students, who rank in the bottom 10-15% of their respective subgroups statewide. While Bayles spends more per student and maintains a relatively low student-teacher ratio, the school's performance indicates a need for more targeted and effective interventions.

Nearby schools, such as George W. Truett Elementary, Urban Park STEAM Academy, and Mount Auburn STEAM Academy, generally perform better than Bayles Elementary on academic measures, suggesting that Bayles may face unique challenges that the other schools have not fully overcome. Exploring the practices and strategies of these higher-performing schools could provide insights into how Bayles can improve its academic outcomes and better serve its students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The office staff and their professionalism is poor. The teaching staff is horrible. The school is so far below state standards that it should be closed. No school performances not even for Christmas. This opinion is coming from an active parent in her kids school culture and education. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
