Summary:

Bolin Elementary is a public elementary school in Allen Independent School District, serving 522 students in grades K-6. The school consistently performs above the state average on STAAR assessments and has a diverse student population, with a higher percentage of minority students compared to nearby schools.

Bolin Elementary excels academically, with 5th-grade students scoring 73.28% proficient or better in Reading and 70.69% in Mathematics, far exceeding the state averages. The school also has a strong Gifted and Talented program, ranking 88 out of 2,980 Texas elementary schools, and effectively serves its English Language Learners, ranking 168 out of 3,556 schools. This high performance is particularly notable for the school's Hispanic, African American, and Gifted and Talented student subgroups.

While Bolin Elementary outperforms most nearby schools in the Allen Independent School District, the Lovejoy Independent School District's Joe V. Hart Elementary school surpasses Bolin in several metrics, including a higher percentage of students proficient or better in Reading and Mathematics. This suggests that parents should consider the broader regional context when evaluating school performance, as there may be exceptional options outside of their local district.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Sad to say that I have seen first-hand the decline of this school. Leadership is lacking at best. Staff is more like employees than educators. Passion at this school has steadily declined. Not capable of administering a state mandated 504 program. More focused on pushing students to Special Education. AISD should be ashamed of what is happening at this campus. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
