Crieve Hall Elementary

Summary:

Crieve Hall Elementary is a public elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, serving 459 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school consistently ranks among the top 15% of Tennessee elementary schools, significantly outperforming the Davidson County and Tennessee state averages across all grade levels and subject areas.

Crieve Hall Elementary's diverse student population, with a racial makeup of 51.42% White, 26.58% Hispanic, 13.29% Asian, 3.27% African American, and 5.23% two or more races, is more pronounced than the nearby schools. The school's female, White, and English Language Learner (ELL) students perform exceptionally well, ranking in the top 10%, top 5%, and top 30% of Tennessee elementary schools, respectively. However, the school's Hispanic and low socioeconomic status (SES) students perform below the state average, ranking in the bottom 40% and bottom 80% of Tennessee elementary schools, respectively.

Crieve Hall Elementary's academic excellence is particularly noteworthy given the school's diverse student population and the relatively low performance of the overall Davidson County district, which is ranked 122 out of 139 districts in Tennessee and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger. The school's performance also contrasts with the nearby Nashville Collegiate Prep charter school, which struggles to match Crieve Hall Elementary's academic outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Dr. Miley is the a great principal and brings a lot of energy to the school environment.
And so are all the teachers. Campus may be small but the teachers really work hard to make a lot of difference. Enrichment and Encore programs help to sharpen the STEM skills. Close Quote

Open Quote Parents are the saving grace. Do not expect your child to get individual anything from these people. Principal is absolutely horrific to deal with. Office staff is essentially incompetent and uninformed, incapable of answering even the simplest of questions. Teachers are of course the same as any school and it's hit or miss based on the individual. Unfortunately we only got lucky on 1 out of 5. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
