As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote My child has attended this school for several years. Since enrollment, there has been no focus on Black History month.
I believe the principal and teachers should be aware of students’ background and culture and build upon their cultural differences. Otherwise, how do we get to understand and learn the true mores of other cultures? We can't always go according to the media as the stats are flawed...

According to the New York City Department of Education supposedly the educators are "committed to creating and supporting learning environments that reflect the diversity of New York City." And supposedly, "all students benefit from diverse and inclusive schools and classrooms. " If all are welcome, the mat has genuinely been pulled on the culture at PS.207.
Hopefully, the new principal will prove otherwise. Close Quote

Open Quote I thought this would of been the best school for my kids but apparently it is not. The school doesn't provide any kind of extra help to students who need it. Teachers automatically pressure parents into believing that their child/children have a learning disability and should be placed in a special ed class. To put more stress on you they threaten to leave your child back a grade. How about the school focus on making sure students don't get left back by providing the best help possible with extra academic help. They have students learning how to play the recorder and they don't even have shows where the kids get to perform for parents and friends, therefore that is just a waste of time that could be spent learning something worthwhile. My kids have been in the school for 2 years and not once have I've seen the principle. Wake up PS 207, your grade is going down, work on bringing it back up by focusing on the students, and stop making excuses why a student is performing below grade level...ADHD is a myth, 90% of kids have trouble paying attention, it's up to you as an adult to find a teaching method that will catch/keep their attention. STOP making Special Education the first choice just because it benefits the school by providing extra funds. Shame on you guys... Close Quote

Open Quote This school needs a change of administration, staff and the principal. Some of them are their too long. They don't seem to care. They lack communication, the left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing. The principal does not like to meet with parents, the staff does not possess good social skills, the school is only interested in scoring a good grade and not focusing on the education and learning of the children. Teachers are always speaking on top of their voices, they seem unhappy and sometimes overwhelmed. Leaership skills are poor. Parents voices falls on deaf ears. This school needs help for the future of our children!!!!!!!!! Close Quote

Open Quote This school has gone way downhill over the years. If you aren't a gifted student, they couldn't care less about the child. All they care about is their rating, which is now a C! No wonder. It is just about impossible to speak to the principal if you have a problem. I'm glad my last child is almost out of this school. Close Quote

Open Quote This school has a principal who is anti social and not parent receptive..if a parent haa a concern , it is difficult to find the appropiate person to go to...The secretaries r very nice, they seem to take pity on the parents , who r being pushed away.Problems get swept under the carpet, because school wants their A rating from the Bd of Ed.
There is a poor gym program because of scheduling conflicts with Fillmore Academy..Gym teacher does best he can,, but has to use auditorium throuout winter for gym activities for lower grades..There were also schedulig conflicts for other clusters, such as Art, so the lower grades did not get art this year..This is due to the opening of Fillmore Academy and the art teacher cannot be everywhere..Otherwise, their Art teacher is superb..
They claim there is a music/ band / chorus program..but recorder/band teacher is not well trained..The chorus teacher cannot play piano...The are never student performances on what they have accomplished in their recorder/band or choral program..
There are no science fair or grade plays..children have not been taught to do a processional or recesssional, during the few times in 7 years, we have beeen invited into the auditorium for a presentation or awards ceremony..
There are teachers who yell all day, due to lack of class control , are condescending to the childen and there is no recourse,,,
PS 207 has a reputation of being a good school..this is just a smokescreen..
It is a safe school and that is way parents want their children there.other than that...the school doesnt care about its individual students (esp if they r non-gifted), and it lacks passion.. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
