Open Quote The school leadership is unprofessional beyond words. They are not proactive and take no responsibility for their own poor management, procedures, decision making and actions. On the second to last day of kindergarten, they suggested (via email) failing my child and giving her the "gift of time" by repeating the school year (coloring). Throughout the year, all parent/teacher reviews were glowing as a result of their educational prowess (according to them) The only person who needs a gift of time is a cancer patient. Perhaps they should have called me in a few months earlier to discuss retarding a 5 year old? Sounds like really poor marketing for revenue. Also, the Board of Truste Chair is angry and innapropriate in his handling of issues. He is an overly litigious lawyer who tries to belittle clients to quiet them. Bad experience. Spend your money at a school with history, pedigree and leadership. Close Quote

Open Quote I have been a Chatham Day School parent for eight years. I feel incredibly lucky that my three daughters have been able to attend such an extraordinary school. The students are academically challenged, emotionally nurtured, respected, and valued. You couldn't ask for a better PS-8 environment for your children. It is a very special place. Close Quote

Open Quote Chatham Day School is a fully-accredited, independent, coeducational day school for students in preschool through grade eight. We are small by design with classrooms limited to no more than 14 students and a student to teacher ratio of 7 to 1. Chatham Day School celebrates and values each child as a unique learner with extraordinary potential. We offer an academically ambitious program that promotes intellectual achievement and emotional growth in a diverse and nurturing environment. Close Quote

Open Quote Chatham Day School has a wonderful program. I am familiar with the Independent Schools in the northern New Jersey area and, in my opinion, CDS offers the best in academics, environment and culture. The faculty and administration are extraordinarily warm and go above and beyond in all that they do for students and families. The school offers our family a true sense of community. I highly recommend looking at this school. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
