Open Quote I rank this school a 2, because their academics are outstanding. Pineville is ranked one of the highest on the coast for test scores, but that is all they can offer. Pineville is a very small school, which comes with little to none resources. My son has been going to Pineville since Kindergarten. I have had some behavior problems with my son at Pineville. Since they do not have a full time social worker at Pineville, they would call me everytime my son had an outburst. For the past couple of years they insisted that my son had something wrong with him mentally and he needed to be put on medication. Come to find out, his I.Q. level is through the roof (he was bored). Needless to say I am trying to find a bigger school with more resources so I can get my son the help he needs to become a successful person in life ( academically and socially). Close Quote

Open Quote I thought that because Pineville was small, it would provide a great, caring atmosphere for my child. Unfortunately, the Kindergarten teacher she had was a germophobe and not the stereotypical loving, fun teacher most think of when beginning school. My child now hates school. I contacted the superintendent, who laughed it off. Long story short...the school principal was more than happy to tell me my daughter was not invited back to the school for first grade. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
