Harris Elementary

Summary:

Harris Elementary is a public elementary school located in Saint Charles, Missouri, serving grades K-4 with a total enrollment of 408 students. The school is part of the St. Charles R-VI school district, which is ranked 50 out of 376 districts in Missouri and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Harris Elementary consistently ranks in the top 25% of Missouri elementary schools, with strong academic performance on the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) tests, where 3rd and 4th-grade students outperform the state and district averages in both Mathematics and English Language Arts. The school also stands out for its racial diversity, with a higher percentage of African American, Asian, and students of two or more races compared to nearby schools like Becky-David Elementary and Fairmount Elementary. Additionally, Harris Elementary has a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 9.9 to 11.4 over the past three school years, which may contribute to its strong academic performance.

While Harris Elementary is a consistently high-performing school, it faces competition from other exceptional schools in the area, such as Harvest Ridge Elementary, which has even stronger academic performance in both Mathematics and English Language Arts. However, Harris Elementary's diverse student population and small class sizes make it a valuable asset to the Saint Charles community, and its strong track record of academic achievement over the past decade is a testament to the school's quality.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have visited this school with my son, and it is a really great school. I would definitely rate it above average. I noticed however that this school didn't have a rating where as greatschools.org is giving it an 8/10 based on MAP test results. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
