North Callaway Middle School

Summary:

North Callaway Middle School is a public middle school in Auxvasse, Missouri, serving 234 students in grades 6-8 as part of the North Callaway County R-I school district, which is ranked 267 out of 386 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, North Callaway Middle School's performance on standardized tests is generally below the state average, with proficiency rates in Mathematics and English Language Arts significantly lower than nearby schools like Chester Boren Middle and Hallsville Middle. The school also faces challenges with high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 19.1% to 22.2% over the past few years, which is much higher than the state average. Additionally, a large percentage of the student population, 49.15%, comes from low socioeconomic backgrounds, which likely contributes to the school's academic struggles.

However, the school's relatively low student-teacher ratio and higher ranking for disabled students suggest that it may be providing more individualized support and resources in certain areas. Addressing the unique needs of the school's socioeconomically disadvantaged population could be a key focus for improving overall academic outcomes. By learning from the successes of higher-performing nearby schools, North Callaway Middle School may be able to implement strategies to better support its students and close the achievement gap.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I go to this school and I am in 8th grade I know that some teachers are kind and some others aren't... but that's at every school you go to now days. There are kids that smoke e cigarettes in the bathroom and other children at school love to use put downs, racial slurs and even inappropriate jokes but that's at every school and what it makes it worse is most of the kids are white and don't care, and they act inappropriate, for example in my math class today were humping each other and touching each others breasts but that's normal in this generation and all of the teachers don't get paid enough to care. They'll say "that's enough" or "come on guys it's the fifth week of school", but honestly what do you expect in this generation. The kids in special needs programs can't help what they act like and are yelled at by there teacher Mrs.Drew Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
