Parkview Center School

Summary:

Parkview Center School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-8 in the Roseville Public School District in Minnesota, with a diverse student population of over 800 students.

Parkview Center School consistently outperforms the district and state in academic proficiency, with 58.87% of students proficient or better in MCA-III Reading, compared to 45.71% for the district and 49.85% for the state. The school also performs particularly well for certain student subgroups, ranking 65th out of 128 Minnesota elementary schools for Asian students, 140th out of 310 for African American students, and 37th out of 81 for multi-racial students. Additionally, Parkview Center School has a relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 12.8 to 14.3 over the past three school years, which may contribute to its academic success.

While Parkview Center School is a strong-performing school, it faces some challenges, such as a significant population of low-socioeconomic status students (32.91% qualify for free or reduced-price lunch) and a declining rank in recent years, from 163 out of 869 in 2020-2021 to 309 out of 881 in 2023-2024. When compared to nearby schools, such as Falcon Heights Elementary and Chelsea Heights Elementary, Parkview Center School generally outperforms them in academic proficiency, but some schools have higher overall rankings and stronger performance in certain subgroups.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Nothing but disappointment regarding the leadership at this school. Disgusting as the P and VP have wrecked what was once a decent place. They are incompetent people, in the wrong positions. Close Quote

Open Quote Both of my children have gone to Parkview Center School since they were babies. They have ECFE in the school, the kids were comfortable with the school, staff, buses. Having been there for so long, they are in 1st and 3rd grade, we have had to move out of the district, but are taking them everyday. Outstanding school, I know they are safe there. I was present during a emergency drill and was impressed with how well they handled everything. I am a Proud PV Parent!! Close Quote

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
