As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Sept 7th 2015 review of elected Representatives of MSAD 49 School Board of Directors website.

1. Sept 17th and Oct 1st School Board meetings posted.
2. Sept 8th Finance committee meeting 4:30 pm
3. Oct 6th Facilities committee meeting 4:30 pm

It is great to see more action occurring at the School Board level. Attention to the details has been an ongoing issue when viewing online what is happening with the District. With the above improvements, some questions where still found in the following posts found in the Sept 7th review.

1. "November 9th or 10th - 4:30 pm Superintendent's Office" What does this mean when under the Schedule of Board Committee meetings? Who is meeting? These are professional educators, where were the second eyes or "Editors Review". Attention to detail. *****NOTE****** when reviewing on Sept 9th after this posting, School Board schedule was updated to "November 9 - Negotiations Committee - 4:30 pm Superintendent's Office"

2. The last minutes published online is the May 28, 2015 minutes. It is challenging to be an active engaged parent of a student, when the School Board is lacking in planning or sharing information on what has taken place at the School Board level. Many schools have there entire School Board schedule, to include sub-committees schedule, published for the entire 2015-2016 school year.

Sept 14th review... June 1st, 4th and 18th minutes are now available online for viewing 3 months later. June 18th Agenda is now available for viewing online. June 4th minutes recorded a 1.5 MILLION DOLLAR loan vote done by the School Board of Directors after 1st District vote of the MSAD 49 budget failed. The vote was conducted while the MSAD 49 District budget was still in process. No other updates to the website or schedule. District still DOES NOT have a 2015-2016 plan in accordance with policy ADA, DOES NOT have a published schedule for the School Board of Directors, or it's subcommittees, for 2015-2016 school year. http://msad49.org/…/Server_3012026/File/06%2004%2015%20Boar…

There is to be a meeting Sept 17th with the School Board of Directors but there is no Agenda published at this time. 3 days to meeting, no agenda published.

Sept 21st review... no planned schedule for the Board or it's committees for the 2015-21016 school year, no motion/discussion/vote for plans/goals per policy ADA for the 2015-2016 school year, no discussion recorded in any minutes of the School Board Workshop concerning "Plans and priorities for next school year" held August 11th (that is assuming the workshop even took place.)

Sept 28th review... Agenda posted for Oct 1st meeting, no updates, no yearly schedule for board or committees, no discussion/action on policy ADA. Three months since budget approval, school year already in session and no action by the Board to communicate with those wishing to communicate with the Board. More can be viewed at facebook "Arel Spaulding (School Board e-mails)". Close Quote

Open Quote After several attempts to view the curriculum from K-12 communicating directly to the staff, administration, school board and the Department of Education Office in Augusta, one year later a curriculum was provided by the Superintendent for our review. The curriculum provided was incomplete and out dated. After becoming a School Board member 2014 both School Board Policies and Curriculum are now available online. There are 13 School Board members that make up the School Board yet three School Board members and the Superintendent meet each week and discuss business without involving the other members of the School Board and meet without public notice or agenda. The School Board has not followed Policy ADA which requires them to set annual goals in cooperation with the staff, administration and citizens of the community. Setting annual goals per policy ADA have not been complied with for many years. The School Board as a body has publicly stated they are not required to hear public comments or concerns. When suggesting to have goals established and a schedule set to meet those goals and review progress, the School Board refused to adopt this basic practice of success. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
