Victory Villa Elementary

Summary:

Victory Villa Elementary is a public elementary school in Baltimore, Maryland, serving 659 students in grades PK-5. The school is part of the Baltimore County Public Schools district, which is ranked 17th out of 25 districts in the state.

Victory Villa Elementary faces significant academic challenges, consistently ranking in the bottom half of Maryland elementary schools. The school's performance on state assessments is significantly below the Baltimore County and Maryland state averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, only 16.9% of Victory Villa students were proficient or better in Mathematics, compared to 19.3% in Baltimore County and 24.1% statewide. The school's performance is particularly low for White students and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

While Victory Villa's performance is generally lower than nearby schools, some schools in the same district, such as Rossville Elementary, perform significantly better on state assessments. Rossville Elementary, located about 2.25 miles from Victory Villa, had 31.4% of students proficient or better in Mathematics and 44.6% in English Language Arts in the 2023-2024 school year, outperforming Victory Villa by a wide margin. The high percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds and the racial composition of the student body at Victory Villa may be contributing factors to the school's lower academic performance.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This is the outstanding school. I graduated here in year 1979.

I want take this apportunity to thank my teachers and this school for bringing me the most cherished childhood memory of my life. My brother and I will never forget the teachers and this school as long as we live. My parents also love their memories here with meeting up with teachers visits and the Christmas choirs watching us as we grew up here. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
