Franklin High consistently ranks among the top high schools in Massachusetts, with a statewide ranking between 23 and 86 over the past decade. The school's performance on MCAS assessments is also impressive, with a higher percentage of students scoring proficient or better compared to the state average across all subject areas. Additionally, Franklin High has maintained a high four-year graduation rate, ranging from 96.9% to 98.4% over the past five years, and a very low dropout rate, ranging from 0.2% to 1.3% during the same period.

While Franklin High stands out for its exceptional academic performance and student support, the school's racial makeup is significantly less diverse compared to the state average and nearby schools, such as Milford High, Holliston High, and Bellingham High School. This could indicate potential challenges in terms of equity and inclusion within the school community, which may warrant further examination and efforts to promote greater diversity and representation.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Franklin High School does not hold students accountable for grades or tardiness. The students are allowed to make deals to pass classes and evade detention for absence and tardiness. Overall the students run the administration and know it. Focus is on passing tests and pushing kids through senior year. It is a diploma mill and does kids an injustice by setting them up for failure in post high school endeavors. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
