South Beauregard Elementary School

Summary:

South Beauregard Elementary School is a public elementary school serving 684 students in grades PK-3 in Longville, Louisiana, which is part of the Beauregard Parish school district.

South Beauregard Elementary consistently outperforms the district and state averages on LEAP assessments, with 74% of students proficient or better in Mathematics and 70% in English Language Arts, compared to 67% and 68% for the district, and 59% and 67% for the state. The school maintains a strong statewide ranking, placing in the top half of Louisiana elementary schools, and has shown consistent performance across different student subgroups. While the school's percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch has fluctuated, it has generally outperformed nearby schools like Carver Elementary and East Beauregard Elementary on academic measures.

However, it's worth noting that Moss Bluff Elementary, a school in the neighboring Calcasieu Parish district, consistently outperforms South Beauregard Elementary across multiple subjects and grade levels. Additionally, South Beauregard Elementary has a significantly higher percentage of white students (over 92%) compared to nearby schools, which have more diverse student populations. This lack of racial diversity is an area that warrants further exploration to understand its potential impact on the school's unique context and student outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote They have a problem with a teacher that thinks its okay to physically touch (spank or grab aggressively) your child and verbally degrade them. Mind you my child is still a baby. (1st grade) The teacher is not being held accountable at all because of course she denies it and they have no proof. My child wants to leave that school so bad but unfortunately circumstances dont allow that. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
