As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I posted my last review of Charlestown High School a while back...so now I am writing a new one because the school has now changed.

Charlestown High School is almost 100% complete aside from an unfinished parking lot and a few interior and exterior spots of the school. It is a very nice school. It is well air conditioned and MUCH more spacious. There is little to no congestion in the hall ways and it is an ease to get from class to class.

The laptop initiative will be starting, once again, THIS week (when I wrote this review). Almost every single book I have is on the computer or online, so lockers will almost become obsolete for most students.

In every classroom of the school you fill find new Smart Boards and White Boards rather than Chalkboards. It is a much more high tech school and the entire school has a WiFi network so you can get on the Internet ANYWHERE in the entire school (well, unless that part of the school isn't finished yet, though it will be later this year if it is not already).

The School also has air-conditioned Gyms. It has a PE Gym, which is used for Physical Education Classes, and it also has a new Arena which is used for Sporting and other events. It is quite nice compared to the old gym which was not air-conditioned and was built back in the 50's.

The school also works closely with the City of Charlestown to create a better learning environment for Students. By doing this and working with the laptop initiative, they have launched a Digital Connectors Program. In this program students learn and work with technology. They create websites, make commercials, stream videos and recordings, and also teach people about the technology they use.

Anyway, I give the school a rating of 4 stars. It is a great school and test scores are going up, so improvement can still be made. There are also occasional fights in the school, this is mainly because of, well, its High School and students have Teenage Drama. I am also quite disappointed by the bus situation with the school, at times, depending on where you live, you may have up to 60 people on your bus and also ride the bus for an hour if you happen to be one of the first students to get on.

Charlestown Senior High School is a great school to go to, and I am proud to be going there. I mean, not too many people (currently) can say they go to a school with a Laptop Initiative! Close Quote

Open Quote This school is a nice school. All of the teachers here are nice, and there are lots of things to do. Plus, they now offer the Apple One to One Computer Initiative, which is making school ALOT easier. We carry less books, and the teachers have more fun lesson plans for us. I seem to learn better when I have more fun, and with this program, it is the perfict balance for that.

The only problems, is there are lots of crowds this year, though there are just around 700 students (a fourty or so more jump from last year). My bus is also extremely crowded, becuase all of these people and the new houses they are building around here. Alot of people moved in because of the new program, and that they are remodeling the whole school. The halls are congested between classes, and especially at the begining of the day. So I have to try to make quick trips. I expect all of this to ease up after part of the new school is finished though.

This school is a nice school, and I really enjoy going here. The teachers are really nice, and there are a few problems, but it is still a very good school. The apple program is a really cool feature of this school, as well as how the new school will look once completed (it will be able to hold around 1,200 students). Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
