Lake Louise Elementary School

Summary:

Lake Louise Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Palatine, Illinois, serving grades PK-6 with a total enrollment of 1,032 students. The school is part of the Palatine CCSD 15 district, which is ranked 375 out of 813 districts in Illinois and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Despite its relatively high per-student spending of $17,286, Lake Louise Elementary School consistently underperforms compared to the district and state averages in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics proficiency. In the 2023-2024 school year, only 11.8% of students were proficient or better in ELA, compared to 40.2% for the district and 41.2% for the state. Similarly, only 9.9% of students were proficient or better in Mathematics, compared to 34.5% for the district and 28.4% for the state. The school also struggles with a significantly higher chronic absenteeism rate of 28.3%, much higher than the state average of 17.6%.

When comparing Lake Louise Elementary School to other nearby schools within the same district, such as Gray M Sanborn Elementary School and Lincoln Elementary School, it becomes evident that Lake Louise is underperforming. Additionally, the analysis reveals a stark contrast between the performance of Lake Louise and schools in the neighboring Arlington Heights School District 25, which consistently outperform Lake Louise in academic proficiency. The high chronic absenteeism rate and the large percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds at Lake Louise may be contributing factors to the school's underperformance, suggesting the need for targeted interventions and support to address these challenges and improve student outcomes.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school needs an upgrade as far as finding innovative leadership to run this school. There are not enough extracurricular activities provided (unless you are in 5th grade or higher). Boy/Girl Scouts have practically been pushed out of the school by the assistant principal and her lack of wanting to coordinate or accommodate a schedule. There are definitely better schools located within the district. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
