As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Very diverse school that continues a legacy of outstanding education. Rankings and test scores truly do not reflect the quality of this school, do not be swayed by that. The teachers care, the students care, and the community cares. Close Quote

Open Quote I graduated form H-F in 2005. I transferred in mid freshman year from a school in Chicago where it was predominately African American. H-F was such a change to be around different races, cultures, and beliefs. Though this was a different environment for me, I had adjusted in no time. I was assigned a fellow classmate to show me around campus, introduce me to other students, and the school. Tons of activities, sports to be involved in. I look back now & wish I had did so much more while I was there. It definitely prepared me for college, and the real world, and as Much as I probably wouldn't have said this as a teen... HF prepared me for life after college. Close Quote

Open Quote I am currently a junior at H-F, and I can honestly say I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. This is possibly one of the most culturally accepting schools I have ever attended. I have never seen someone being made fun of because of race, creed, color, etc. The education is exceptional; it requires you to push yourself and prepare yourself for the future. My sister graduated from this school in 2003 and she would always tell me stories about how she was MUCH more prepared for college than some of her peers, who had attended the top private schools in their areas. The curriculum may not be #1 on the charts, but it is still very good, and it does exactly what a highschool is supposed to do- nurture their students to the point that they have found their own identity, and help kids to actually retain information instead of learning and forgetting it. Go Vikings! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
