Edwards Middle School

Summary:

Edwards Middle School is a public middle school located in Conyers, Georgia, serving grades 6-8 with a total enrollment of 943 students. The school is part of the Rockdale County School District, which is ranked 148 out of 203 districts in Georgia and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Edwards Middle School consistently performs better than the Rockdale County and Georgia averages in the Milestones Assessment, particularly in Algebra I and English Language Arts, its overall academic performance, as reflected in its 2-star rating, suggests room for improvement, especially in Mathematics. The school's high free and reduced lunch rate, ranging from 60.63% to 75.61% over the past three years, may indicate a need for additional support and resources for economically disadvantaged students.

Interestingly, the nearby Conyers Middle School and Memorial Middle School have similar performance and ranking profiles to Edwards Middle School, while General Ray Davis Middle School, also in the Rockdale County district, has consistently outperformed Edwards Middle School, ranking in the top 35% of Georgia middle schools and earning a 3-4 star rating.

Open Quote Worst school I’ve ever went to. Got bullied and made no friends. The teachers cafe more about the dress code then the well-being of their students and their grades. Would do homeschool then go to edwards ever again. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
