Woodland Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Stockbridge, Georgia, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 619 students. The school is part of the Henry County School District, which is ranked 152 out of 203 districts in Georgia and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Woodland Elementary School's academic performance, as measured by the Milestones Assessment, is generally below the Henry County and Georgia state averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in the 2023-2024 school year, the percentage of students proficient or better in English Language Arts ranged from 23.5% to 42.9%, compared to the Henry County average of 26.3% to 37.4% and the Georgia state average of 37% to 48.2%. Similarly, in Mathematics, Woodland's proficiency rates ranged from 24.5% to 29.6%, compared to the Henry County average of 29.2% to 31.8% and the Georgia state average of 41% to 48.1%. Woodland Elementary School has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Georgia elementary schools, with a ranking between 801 and 879 out of 1,214 to 1,248 schools over the past several years, and has maintained a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger, indicating below-average performance compared to other schools in the state.

When comparing Woodland Elementary School to the nearby schools in the Henry County district, it becomes evident that Woodland's academic performance is generally lower than its peers. For example, East Lake Elementary, located about 4.3 miles away, consistently outperforms Woodland in both English Language Arts and Mathematics across all grade levels. The high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch at Woodland Elementary School, ranging from 45.03% to 55.74% over the past few years, may be a contributing factor to the school's lower academic performance, as research has shown that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds often face additional challenges that can impact their educational outcomes.

Open Quote The first person you come in contact with (if it's during drop off/pick up times) is the school crossing guard.. He is RUDE, loud and announces he works for the Henry County Police Department like that makes him an officer or something.. He does NOT know how to approach people and should NOT have a job working with the school system..... He is VERY confrontational.... Talks to people like their dirt and below him .. He says his name is Wayne Evans. Beware of him until the school system gets rid of him. I spoke with the school, the BOE and the police department. This WAS NOT the first complaint against him..... Open Quote Great School! Woodland offers a welcoming environment with Administration and Faculty members that care about the students. Would like to see more parent involvement and less tardiness, but overall its a great place for students. Close Quote

Open Quote Beware! If your child is attacked by another student, the school administration will do all possible to cover it up. Too many incidents have happened in the past month, but none has gone beyond the principles desk. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
