Open Quote Was headed up now dropping like it was few years back new influx of students got it up to a 9 same teachers that were at the 3 prior now have managed to fall behind. Needs overhaul in teachers bring in some from highly recognized Mabry, Milton. And Decatur to lead new direction that could easily be a 9 has the best student make up in area. Principal great. Some cleaning out and catch upto other middle schools before it is to late. Close Quote

Open Quote I have known many community members with students at CMS, and all their opinions have been overwhelmingly positive. This school is a great asset to the community. The students, parents, and staff are always involved in the community and giving back. Someone us doing something right. Great school! Close Quote

Open Quote My son is in his first year at CMS and he is in the Gifted program. We are underwhelmed. He rarely has any homework and he quickly learned that minimal effort gets straight A's. It's been very disappointing overall since he always liked school until he got to CMS. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
