Open Quote My child has been at Lee Academy for 5 years. I see her growth and progress, I see how involved many teachers are with the children and they do everything they can to make the education and achievements important to children. I see homelike atmosphere, which I think is important for developing the trust with students and parents alike. I see no bureaucratic limitations to learning process. I see that curriculum is better than in many other schools. All that makes me believe that there is no better option for my child so far. Of course there are some concerns, but there are rather about education standards in general than about Lee Academy. Lee definitely is the best option available. Close Quote

Open Quote Unfortunately, if you read the other review, it sounds like a promo - something the school was gravely needing around 2010 and for which the school actually hired a teacher based on her marketing background (she taught elementary literature part-time and did their marketing part-time). Families were leaving, and teachers were as well due to poor management and failure of the school to achieve what it promised to on its website and during meetings with the head of school or the owner. The school primarily makes decision based on finances not the needs of the studenst, but will tell you anything to keep you. We pulled our child after 2 1/2 years due to unkept promises, lazy and/or controlling teachers. We loved the environment in her first year in pre-K, but that teacher was let go due to poor enrollment. The following year, the teacher didn't even correct their math workbooks and clearly hadn't taught concepts as my child didn't understand basic number sense. Unfortunately, this has continued where students in their "kindergarten" equivalent class had just begun to read at the end of last year. There had been no reading instruction the entire year other than incidentally. Close Quote

Open Quote Although one of the best private schools in Hillsborough County, Lee Academy is one of the best kept secrets in the Tampa Bay Area. It is one of the only schools in Tampa that offers accelerated learning from preschool through 12th grade. There is very little staff turnover, and both the teaching staff and administrative staff are stellar. Lee students are not separated by age or grade, but rather by their ability to successfully do the work, offering a truly unique educational environment for curious youngsters who are eager to learn. About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
