Trinity Oaks Elementary School

Summary:

Trinity Oaks Elementary School is a public elementary school in Trinity, Florida, serving 673 students in grades PK-5 and part of the Pasco District, which is ranked 42 out of 68 districts in the state.

Trinity Oaks consistently outperforms the Pasco District and the state of Florida in standardized test scores, with 64% of 3rd graders proficient or better in English Language Arts compared to 53% for Pasco and 55% for Florida. The school's 5th-grade science proficiency rate is also higher than the district and state, at 52% compared to 47% and 53%, respectively. Trinity Oaks has maintained a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger for several years, indicating its strong academic performance. However, the school has a higher percentage of White students (73.7%) compared to the more diverse nearby schools, and a lower chronic absenteeism rate (15.1%) and percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch (36.7%) than the surrounding schools.

Trinity Oaks' exceptional performance in math, with some grades reaching over 60% proficiency, is a notable strength of the school. While the school's racial diversity has been declining, with a gradual decrease in the White student population and increase in Hispanic and two or more races students, this shift presents opportunities for the school to adapt its curriculum and community engagement. Comparing Trinity Oaks to the nearby Brooker Creek Elementary School, Sunray Elementary School, and other neighboring schools, Trinity Oaks stands out as a higher-performing school academically, but with a less diverse and more economically advantaged student population.

Open Quote The teachers and staff only care about each other. I had two children attend this school via school choice but I definitely regret it. Every time I turn around they are asking for more money for something!! I have one over achiever and the other needs additional support. Neither child is getting what they need and we will be choosing a different school next year. Close Quote

Open Quote The teachers at this school could not care less about teaching the kids anything. Also it's difficult to drop your kid off in the morning. Many of the parents would rather slam into your car then let you merge in front of them. It's weird. Close Quote

Open Quote My child's teacher does not seem so focused on the students. She gives no homework. He gets 2 pages of math homework every other week and 1 page of English for the week. He is not learning spelling at all. He is not learning to write paragraphs. I am extremely disappointed in this school. If he does not turn in homework, the teacher could care less. I do not hear about it from her as a concern like we Would expect. If you can send your child to another school, I would. This school is horrible in every way. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
