Open Quote We visited and compared the various schools in the area and were thrilled to discover Athenian Academy. Our 2 girls are thriving at Athenian Academy and absolutely love the chorus. Amazing teachers, staff, and administration. The school seems to offer something every month for families to do. We couldn't be happier with our decision to enroll our girls here. Close Quote

Open Quote This school has always been a diamond in the rough - and now that new leadership is in place, it is going to shine like never before! As an involved parent and active volunteer, I have seen the good and the bad - there have been a few rough patches along the way, but the new principal and the team of excellent teachers are on course to make this the best year yet. Open Quote This school lacks in many areas such as discipline, administration's ability to run this school and the teachers are for the most part very poor. I would not send my child to this school under any circumstance, especially if they are ESE and need special attention. The administration does nto have a clue how to run an ESE program properly and the state of Florida needs to investigate the illegal procedures that are going on in this school with the students' IEP's at the direction of the Asst. Principal. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
