Open Quote We just transferred our kids in, and we love the school so far. The staff are consistently friendly, engaged, and professional; safety is clearly a major focus; the campus feels friendly and cheerful; the school seems to be very organized administratively; and our kids are happy to go there each morning. The school year is new but I know for a fact that the academics are very strong at this school, so we are looking forward to a year of good progress. We couldn't be happier! Close Quote

Open Quote I went to this school from K to 5. It was the most amazing elementary school in the county. After moving to Atlanta, I went looking at various elementary school for younger siblings. I was shocked that not every school had the art and music time that Buck Lake offered. The teachers I had were all so creative with the ways they taught. I was inspired to learn and work hard. Even now, I have my teachers at Buck Lake to thank for my dedication for school. Your first years of school set up how you will view school for the rest of your life and I think Buck Lake's ways of working hit the mark. Other elementary schools I've visited just don't compare. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
