As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I have 2 kids, my older one went to Warm springs elementary, Horner middle and younger one is going to Hirsch elementary now. Among the irvington feeder elementaries this school benefits from close proximity to Horner middle and Irvington high. Dropping 2 kids is easy even if you have one going to middle and one going to elementary as all three elementary, middle and high schools are in walking distance.

While we moved because of the proximity and location, we have been pleasantly surprised by the Hirsch elementary school. Size wise its a bit smaller school compared to the others which also makes it a lot more closely knit community among the parents and the kids. The school has an amazing principle and a very active PTA. PTA organizes a ton of programs which enriches the kids. The school has a very solid after school program with activities like debate, chess, etc. The school also benefits from the infrastructure available from Horner middle and often uses their facilities for organizing programs. Overall this is a great school which will only get better due to its location advantage. Close Quote

Open Quote Great school with extremely active PTA. Parents are involved in Maths Olympiad, Math Kangaroo, debate, chess, music, etc. This is only one of the few elementary schools in the bay area which offers debate at the elementary level. Parents are actively involved in making the school better. Love the parent community in the school. The school helps in building community and attracts newer motivated and education focussed families to the area. Close Quote

Open Quote I went to Hirsch, Horner and Irvington. Those are top schools in Fremont. I went to UC Berkeley and now work in Big Tech in the valley.

Irvington has famous extra curricular programs, lots of AP courses and has a culture of success and excellence. My parents were proactive, but most of the other kids/parents were similar, which created an environment which breeds success. Most of my friends ended up in top UCs and now in top tech companies/hedge funds. School has good alumni network and provides great networking opportunities. One of my neighbors + mentor helped me through high school - the high density of education focussed families in an area enables that.

Like any high achieving environment, there was some amount of pressure associated. It was not a laid back environment. However, that is true for other top schools like Mission, Monta Vista, Dougherty, Harker too. In a way it prepped us well for berkeley and now corporate jobs. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
