As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is a joke. The school is always filthy and the bathrooms always have the smell of weed or piss. The school spirit is lacking and the sports teams aren't balanced in terms of funds and attention given to them. The sub par football team is the only thing this school invests in. A lot of the teachers don't even care about their students and neither does the school. The averages for tests are hilariously low and diversity in this school is almost non-existent. There aren't as many gang issues, but we started wearing these bright colored vests which are dumb because the crazy security guards harass you if you don't wear them. If you get hurt or have a medical event then they just call your parent to deal with it. I wasn't even convinced that they had a nurse's office until I got pull out of class to get my eyes checked. I would give this school zero stars but that isn't a function on this website. Close Quote

Open Quote Hello I am a concerned parent my child has gotten a 3.0 or higher all 3 of her years at west high but I recently found out that at graduation she and all the other hardworking students with good grades will not be recognized. It is not fair that the students only get a sash if they are in a particular club, they need to be recognized for their hard work in the classroom also. I also believe that each student should be able to tryout for saying a speech for graduation and the best student or students should be chosen not just the valectorian and asb president saying a speech. Also, the cleaniless at west high is next to horrible everytime I visit the restrooms are digusting and there are no toilet seat covers which should be given so the students won't catch any viruses or diseases. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
