Open Quote This school is more into ratings and not about students advancement. They pride themselves with the fact that their students to do Math at a grade above their math level. They find it discouraging if your child can’t do math above their grade level and they won’t provide help to get your child to that level they just expect your child to know it. If you ask for help (IEP) or anything else they will not allow you back the next year. Especially if you aren’t in their school district. I asked the teacher over and over for help but she tend to think my child just had ADHD and need medicine. Couldn’t possibly be that he needed help with the advance Math. It doesn’t make sense to me to have kids do Math on a level higher then their grade level. Math is NOT an easy nor very liked subject by most people in general so to rush someone through it just makes them hate Math and perhaps doubt themselves in other subjects. The concept only works if that child was born and raised in the school however when or if they were to change school then they are bored because everyone else is doing math on their level and at the right pace. It’s not like the kids they teach this to are gifted in Math they are only on a higher level because they make them, so they can say something is special about their school. If the kids had a gift then no matter which school they attended the gift of higher grade in Math would follow but instead all it does for the child is cause them to be bored and have to repeat. This is what happened to my God daughter coming out of a Gilbert school now her family moved to a school in Washington and she is bored because is doing a repeat of the Math. I see why the schools have a reputation to be some of the worst schools. I have come from great schools in NY and the short time I’ve been here 5mos I can feel the politics and racial discrimination. How about instead of making math so difficult & frustrating the kids how about equipping the kids with a language or two so they can be combative with the other countries when they enter into the work force and represent USA. The younger you start them the better off. But NO who cares all they seem to care about is their ratings and money— it’s all politics. No one has ever stood up to these people and that’s why everyone told me just leave the school the battle is bigger than you can ever imagine. So everyone just conforms and the bullies get away with this ill behavior and it’s sad. At this school the Academic Dean is not very personable and I never ever met the principal. I moved to Az from NY and not once was I EVER introduced to anyone or made to feel welcome to do so. the Academic Dean saw me every morning I came in she never once introduced herself but when I didn’t know a rule she was quick to rudely inform me of the rules at this school. She always gave me dirty looks when I came to the school but I never knew who she was and just wrote it off as “teacher who hates her job” no big deal but I quite found it disturbing. Everytime I went to an event I NEVER knew who the PTO players were. They put on events but never encourage anyone to be a member never had a table for sign up or anything. Nor did I see the principal or the Academic Dean there. I asked other parents who was who and they didn’t seem to know anything or anyone either. I will just say I was encouraged by the teacher to turn in my enrollment form for the next year because there was a deadline and she said she’d love to see us back next year. I wasn’t thinking of really coming back the next year but I wanted to keep my options open so I filled out the form and turned it in. The next day I recieved a phone call from a lady at the school who told me her name (not her title) and basically said we were not welcomed to return next year because of tardies and because my child couldn’t keep up academically. I was shocked they felt this way we had only been at the school for 5m and we lived 30min from the school. I was shocked that they could respond the the enrollment form but when I asked for help for my child in Math (an IEP) I got NO response and was told he really didn’t need help,because he was working on his level, but the teacher felt like he just had ADHD and perhaps some meds would help him instead. That was the response. But quick response to the reenrollment. I see quickly and IEP is a no no to ask for at this school. They cherry pick their students to help their acedemic rating and funds.it’s not about NO kids left behind motto. When I asked this lady did it also have something to do with me pushing for an IEP she said no she had No idea about that. Which is sad because being the Academic Dean you’d think she would have known about the request I made at least 4/5 times. Having said all that I finally saw this was NOT a good fit for my child and why wait till next year— we felt very unwanted now so we left moved to another school. My child had been telling me they weren’t nice all along. Close Quote
