The school's statewide ranking has fluctuated over the years, ranging from a high of 248 out of 1,000 Arizona elementary schools in 2021-2022 to a low of 589 out of 1,245 in 2022-2023, suggesting inconsistent performance. Compared to nearby schools in the Flowing Wells Unified District and Amphitheater Unified District, Carden of Tucson's performance is mixed, with the school outperforming some nearby schools in certain grade levels and subjects, but struggling in others. As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Carden is the best elementary and middle school in Tucson--public or private. Class size capped at 16!!!! This is a free charter school. Amazing academics in supportive environment (no mean girls or bullies here--this kind of behavior is not tolerated). 2011-2012 School Year--Carden rarely has openings; but few spots opened up at the last minute this year (Kinder=1 opening; 1st=3 openings; 2nd=1 openings; 4th-3 openings; 7th=1 openings; 8th=3 openings). Call (293-6661) school starts today (7/25/11), don't worry about starting a little late. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
